Birth Announcement!

Shortly after we bought Lauren's guinea pig, Violet, we discovered that she was expecting piglets! All of the ones we already had are females so we know she was already pregnant when we bought her. We've been watching her grow fatter and fatter these past few weeks and yesterday we thought she wouldn't fit through the doorway of her house if she got much bigger! This morning I peeked into her house to check on her and was surprised to see she was not alone. She had two tiny little babies sometime during the night. They are absolutely adorable! Everyone seems partial to the little brown one whose hair is wavy instead of smooth. They are already running around the cage and following Violet around. If we pick them up Violet shrieks until we give them back. We would like to keep them both but I think they may both be little boys. It's kind of hard to tell right now.

Congratulations! Lauren's a grandma! Which makes you a great grandma! Wow! I don't feel so old anymore!!! :) The babies are adorable! Have fun with them!

P.S.
Been busy? I've tried calling a few times and haven't been able to reach you. I'm working all week (although tonight is questionable) so I'll try you next week!

Hey Janet, sorry I didn't get a chance to call you back yesterday! I didn't know you had tried calling before that. Try me again when you get a chance!

Wow, that is so fun that she had them during the night and you didn't even hear a thing! Birth for guinea pigs must not hurt too much.

Why don't you want the babies if they're boys?

That last comment was me, Meggan.

Boys would not work because we have all females right now. That means we would be having guinea piglets coming out our ears before too long (as if we don't already). I guess we could get another cage for them but then we would have 3 to clean and that's too much of pain in the butt. I actually think now that the little brown and white one is a girl. It would be nice if we could keep her as a companion for Violet who has been in her own cage because one of the others is too aggressive towards her.
