First Day

Today was the first day of "real life" in our new town. Aaron started his new job, the kids went back to school and I was left alone to hit the Walmart Supercenter in peace. Everyone survived their first day just fine. Aaron went to work, then came home, sat on the couch and had a look on his face that said, "What now?". For the first time in 4 years his mind was done at the end of the day. Maybe it will be kinda nice not being self-employed. Austin seemed to like his school well. It is very large and spread out compared to his school in Emmett but he found his way around okay. At one point he found himself surrounded by pretty girls who wanted to look at his schedule to see if he was in any of their classes. He was also impressed by the massive amount of food choices in the cafeteria. Food, girls... what's not to like? Amanda and Lauren had good days also although Amanda wasn't too impressed with her teacher. She says her teacher's mean. Both girls said the kids were friendly and neither spent recess or lunch alone. I hope all the kids make friends quickly. Having a friend sure makes a difference when you are getting used to lots of changes. My day also went well. I ventured out and found a Walmart Supercenter only 15 minutes away and was thrilled to find the prices pretty much the same as they were in Idaho. I was worried that they would be much higher here in California. After about three weeks of packing, house hunting, moving, unpacking and living without routine I am happy to be getting back to normal everyday life.

I'm so glad you are settling in. So, your kids are getting some friends, your husband has work to meet people--what are you going to do to make Kasey feel at home???

And, have you read any good books lately?

Glad to hear the first day of "real life" in Yucaipa went well! How nice for Aaron to actually be able to come home and veg at the end of a hard day of work!
So, got plans Friday, Feb 8? We're getting our taxes done at 4pm and thought we might stop by afterwards to see ya! Let me know! Did you change your number yet?

Spud, I miss you!!! I pouted on Friday night that it was book club night and I couldn't be there. One of my very favorite things about living in Emmett was coming to your house once a month to talk about books. I've told Aaron that I want to find a new book club but I just can't imagine it being as good as yours.

Janet, I'd love to have you stop by! Remind me when it gets closer to the date okay?

I'm glad life is becoming more normal for you. I was so sad to hear that you slept in a motel for Christmas. You could have come here!!

Hope you find a good book club!

Sometimes change is good-like Aaron not having to work forever everyday. But it is also nice to get back to a routine.

What you had to stay in a hotel on Christmas??!! Did the kids enjoy it?

I hope you guys will get to settle somewhere for at least 2 years.....like NM;) you know I am kidding. Love you all!!Miss you lots!!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear that you're settling in. Sorry to hear about your book club -- if your ward doesn't already have one, you should totally start a book club as part of one of the HFPE groups. I'm sure your kids will make friends quickly and adjust to life in California -- they're great kids and a lot of fun, so I'm sure they'll have no problems!
